Importing your own EPUB

Bring your own EPUB into Lexxio from the desktop app, and it drops you straight into the reader.

Overview

Importing lets you read a book you already own inside Lexxio, with the same translation and vocabulary tools as everything else in your library. It's available on the Mac and Windows apps, and it doesn't need a plan.

File format

EPUB is the only format Lexxio can import. TXT, PDF, and MOBI files aren't supported. If your book is in one of those formats, you'll need to convert it to EPUB before importing.

How to import

  1. Open the Library screen.
  2. Click Import EPUB.
  3. Pick your file in the dialog that opens.

Lexxio parses the text and breaks it into sections, then takes you straight into the reader once it's done.

What happens to the file

Lexxio keeps a local copy of the original EPUB alongside your book, so it can be included in a backup of your library.

What a plan adds

Importing is free, and so is reading what you import. A plan buys AI translation and the reading tools built on it, so without one you can bring a book in and read it, but not translate it. See Lexxio's plans and what each one includes for what each plan includes.

Not on desktop

Import only exists in the Mac and Windows apps. On mobile, bring your books over by syncing from desktop instead. See Getting books onto your phone.
